He was a perfect American that had life changing messages for all Americans to live by. He will be sadly missed, but he inspired others to take up the torch of freedom. There are lessons to be learned from his passing , never give up the fight, even till the bitter end. Rest in peace John you fought your battle and won our respect.

Mavis Yon, Brooklyn, NY. In church there is a song that is sung to honor folks ( alive or deceased). The words are so simple: " May the Works I've done , speak for me." Mr. Lewis truly the works that you have done in your lifetime speaks for you! Thank you for being bold, courageous, humble, God filled and present. You loved and sacrificed for love of justice and for your country even when the country didn't return that love. Thank you for showing how it should be done and can be done. You will never be forgotten. As an educator, I will make sure that my students remember your work and your life. Rest in Peace and Power. Take your rest! Not it is our turn to take up the mantle and continue to the dream.

John Lewis was a great Statesman and advocate for the people no matter what your color..He lived through many decades of racism and kept fighting until the day he passed. He was a humanitarian before he advocated a party. He believed in justice for all and followed his own path for fight for equality for ALL people. Yes he was a democrat but first he was man of the people. His voice will be sorely missed. He was the conscience of the both parties. Your memory will live on forever Mr. John Lewis...Thank you for your service.

To the family of the Late Great Mr. John Lewis, he was a man who I greatly admired. What incredible strength he embodied as a very young man during the Civil Rights Movement. I was mesmerized by the tone of his voice, whenever he spoke. I am forever grateful for his tireless efforts in fighting for the rights of all people.

The best tribute to John Lewis is to exercise the right to vote, a right he shed blood for.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of John Lewis. His life history and achievements are inspiring. The images of the crossing of the Edmund Pettus Bridge and brutality he suffered for human rights always bring me to tears. I want that bridge re-named after John Lewis, not after a leader of the KKK. John Lewis was an honorable, selfless, peaceful man who fought for all people's rights, and deserves our respect and humility.

The death of John Lewis hit me harder than I had expected. This man of God was placed on this earth to bring light to us all - black, brown, white, rich or poor. He is a hero to us all. He is the kind of man that was put on earth to help bring us all together. At this point in time we need him more than ever and I am hoping That his legacy will live on and we can be encouraged to continue the fight for equal rights that he started so very long ago. My dream is that so many more people will come together to continue his work so that we can make him proud and turn this country around. RIP representative John Robert Lewis. I feel so lucky to have shared this time on earth with you although we’ve never met.

We all African Americans and all other humans lost our best and only one leader. He was ignited by the power of God given to him to became an civil rights and voting rights leader to lead us as far as he could. We learned a lot from him. He endured many unfavorable times in his life for us. I thank God for sending us Jonh Lewis my hero. But now he went to God. I know his Soul will 🌹🌹🕊R.I.P.🕊🌹🌹
