I have so admired the moral and ethical foundations the allowed Representative John Lewis to remain focused and committed to the cause of equal justice for all under some horrifying personal experiences. Now he rests in the arms of his God to whom he was so faithful. A role model the US now needs so badly.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. By God’s given strength, let us keep his energy alive by walking in his steps. He showed us how to. Now we must persevere by resiliently carrying on. May God continue to guide Mr Lewis and us in our journeys

He has lead by enduring example, not out of self-aggrandizement, but for the betterment of others and worked tirelessly for everyone's future. We are not worthy John Lewis, we can only aspire to be a fraction of the human being you were in your lifetime. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for all your sacrifices, seen an unseen.

I met Congressman Lewis once many years ago. But, he's always had a special place in my heart as one of the most courageous, honorable & compassionate people in DC. I was proud that he represented GA. He was the voice of consciousness. His shoes are big ones to fill & I'm not sure if anyone can. He will be missed by all of us. RIP to the Honorable Mr. Lewis.

God bless John Lewis. He was one of those men who don't necessarily stand out in a crowd as when he was in the Walk to Washington, but he was a strong man who never wavered in his belief of justice and equality for all. He "walked to the talk". I never had the opportunity to meet him, but he remains a true hero to me. If any man deserved to be in a statue for history to learn from, HE DOES.

John Lewis — one of the original Freedom Riders, chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, the youngest speaker at the March on Washington, leader of the march from Selma to Montgomery, Member of Congress representing the people of Georgia for 33 years — not only assumed that responsibility, he made it his life’s work. He loved this country so much that he risked his life and his blood so that it might live up to its promise. And through the decades, he not only gave all of himself to the cause of freedom and justice, but inspired generations that followed to try to live up to his example. John Lewis had an opportunity to witness his perseverance for racial equality through demonstrations and marches become a reality to the world !! We know all things are possible with Our God!😇 **I am praying for his family**

I was born in 1963. As I grew older I learned about the important people making civil rights happen. As a White girl, daughter of immigrant Estonian parents, I believed interracial and multicultural connections important in building friends and going to school. John Lewis was a remarkable man who participated in historic, monumental justice efforts. His firsthand experience with the pain involved in establishing a goal is felt. He was a good man. I extend my condolences to his family and friends.

I wouldn’t be alive if it weren’t for John Lewis. The first time I heard his name, I was a child and even now the admiration and sheer gratitude washes over me when I remember John. The change that swept and is sweeping this country came from his work and dedication. I ask the universe and community to continue on his work. To his family - thank you for loving him and being there behind the scenes because I know it wasn’t always easy. Much love and power to you. May he Rest In Peace.

John Lewis falls in the same category as George Washington...not because of George Washingtons legacy...because he dared to go where no black man had gone before..Up against a system that cheats Citizens of their God given right that all men are created equal...That civil rights revolution may not have ever happened if were not for John and MLK...for that...40 million African Americans owe him for his work and dedication that today we see there is much more work to do. He will always be with us in Spirit. He had made a big impact that will never be forgotten.
