Purpose driven lives are ordered by the Almighty, and men of purpose are specially sent to help others along the path of life. John Lewis was a man of purpose. His blood was shed on the Edmund Pettis bridge to bring equality to all Americans. He made an indelible mark while fighting for civil rights during his sojourn on this political and social landscape. His legacy will live until eternity .Take your wings John Lewis and join the other civil-rights activists who have gone before, to meet the Almighty, as He greets you with the words "welcome my good and faithful servant, you have earned your crown in glory.

In these very sad and frightening times of creeping Fascism, if only we had strong and decent leaders like John Lewis to keep it from becoming the New Normal.

We share in your loss. Know that his leadership is appreciated. The contrast to the greed and corruption seen too often in government and heightened by the current president demonstrates how important John Lewis’ calm and persistent efforts are to all of us. Thank you for sharing him and supporting this very hard and difficult journey. We have learned from him and treasure those lessons. Peace be with you.

Dear Congressman Lewis: Thank you for your service, you are so beautiful inside and out! My daughter and I were blessed to hear you speak at BookCon in NYC when your MARCH trilogy was completed. It was an unforgettable moment and tears flowed uncontrollably as I stood only a few feet away from you. You spoke very powerful and peaceful words that day; you were kind and patient enough to shake many hands and greet many strangers--I was lucky to be one of those strangers. I recorded the event and shared it with many friends and colleagues. What a blessing that day was, I will never forget it as if it happened yesterday. What a tremendous loss for your family and this country! May you rest in peace and enjoy life among the angels. Peace and love to you, Gerry (mom) and Hope (14-year-old daughter)

I'm so sorry you could not see a better world in your lifetime. Your legacy will not be forgotten and we will never stop fighting for voting rights and equality. It is a shame that a white supremacist president is the last person you got to see in office, but I hope you haunt him. Your courage, patience, wisdom, and strength is an inspiration in an increasingly bleak world.

MY CONDOLENCES ON THE DEATH OF JOHN LEWIS, A GREAT MAN. AND CHANGED THE WORLD.
Dr. Kaemanje Thomas from MD wrote on July 27, 2020 at 6:01 pm
You have given unselfishly of yourself for many decades. There is no greater sacrifice than a man who dedicates his life to the service of others. You were a man of distinction, class, and grace. Thank you for being a part of those great men who fought with dignity, honor, and class. In life, you demonstrated the principles of integrity and respect, a rarely seen trait demonstrated by individuals blinded by ignorance and racist ideologies. The words, thank you are insufficient, as our gratitude lies in celebrating a life-, well-lived. To your family, I offer my sincere condolences, and may they know that you did not just exist, but you made an impact. You have indelibly etched your name legibly among great African American leaders and for this, I celebrate your contribution to our people. Thank you and rest in peace. Well done, thou good and faithful servant, with you I am well pleased!

My sincere condolences for the loss of our hero, John Lewis. He walked the walk & talked the talk & taught us all how to live a life that mattered. The world is a better place because he lived.
