What a remarkable man and a true hero for all Americans from sit ins to freedom rides to the youngest speaker at the March to Washington to Selma and the horrible beating and the capstone 17 terms in Congress as the conscience of it and America and making good trouble and writing the March and making enemies of the worst people as the Dixiecrats brought their hatred and racism to the other party ending with horrible 45. But John stood with and helped lead the great American majority towards freedom

He will be sorely missed, in a time when we need men like him to help lead the way. He was from early in life a man of courage and principal--and we were fortunate to have him for as long as we did. I would also agree with everything that Cynthia Syms said in her preceding note. My condolences to the family on their loss.

Having lived through the strife of the 50s 60s and on, this is a very personal loss to me.
May this great man rest in well deserved peace and pride. He was a wonderful example to all children for how to live a life.

What a courageous leader and a remarkable man of God. John Lewis was an
igniter for all human beings for civil rights and voting rights. I have always admired him and had so much respect for him. He bore the brunt of racism so that I can have the freedom that I have today. He did this out of love. He struggled, but his blessings came forward. I offer my condolences to his family.
John is where Dr. King is which is in heaven. His work and mission on this Earth is completed. He is an icon and he is part of our history forever.
I am hoping and praying that the bridge in Selma will be named after him because he deserves that honor. He loved people and was a respectful man of God.

I am so humbled by Congressman John Robert Lewis's accomplishments and his insight to be there for humanity. As an early teenager, I remember seeing the Walk to Washington on the television and was in awe of those who were marching for justice. At that time I didn't realize that Congressman Lewis was one of the speakers, I remember how it made me feel, and in my heart I was with them on that glorious day. Over the years to see how the congressman stood up for justice and for God was and will continue to be in my heart very inspiring. He will truly be in history as a wonderful and inspiring leader for justice and equality and a follower of God. Thank you for letting me leave a tribute.

Rep. Lewis spoke to my union in 2019. I was so happy my daughter, 9, was able to hear him speak. We went home with “good trouble” in our lexicon. God bless and keep his loved ones.

Dear Family of John Lewis,
I express my sincerest condolences to you. John Lewis is and will always be in all of our hearts as someone who got in “good trouble” and fought for what was right; not only for African Americans but the United States as a whole. Congressman Lewis, thank you so very much for all your years of never giving up and never giving in. We will miss you always and hope to carry on your legacy in the years going forward. Because of you and many others, hopefully we will always keep the faith and keep striving for a better future. My thoughts and prayers are with you all this week.

My Hero. My Hero... may you rest now knowing your life long work has not been in vain. You are indeed free atlast. May you be in peace w your Lilian looking down with pride and wonderment at the great love and respect so many are expressing...and the commitment to continue your legacy of freedom from racism, for all. I love you Mr. Lewis. I will, I pledge...Vote, speak out for what is good, what is fair, what is just and what is right. I will defend such, without avoidance of trouble; Good Trouble with Faith that we are all one, one people, one family living under the same house.
