I was only 5 years old when you, and the other brave soldiers for equal justice and equality, were brutally beaten, and nearly killed, on that fateful Sunday in Selma. Had it not been for your unselfish sacrifices, I wouldn't be living the dream our ancestors had longed for, but were denied. I will forever instill the values you fought for, and believed in, in my children, grandchildren, friends, and all whose company I have the opportunity to be in. So from the bottom of my heart, I say "Thank You." Sleep peacefully, in the bosom of our Lord, Congressman Lewis, you have earned your crown.

These few very very important drafts are coming from Pilipovic Family, who don’t know much about John Lewis’ accomplishments, but have only seen him a few times talk, behave, like a real human man, and that was enough to see that only a few exists today. John Lewis was just a man, but a real man, and any real man would’ve done exactly what he’s done. He was not a politician, he was a real man. So for that reason I the head of this family can only hope that John Lewis has left the seeds, his real blood seeds, not only impression on others that’s going to be forgotten when this is all over, but the real blood seeds that is going to give us more and more real men and women, real human men and human women. And I only wish I could’ve shaken a real mans hand like John Lewis’s.

On the several occasions I met him or saw the Congressman speak, I was always struck by the confident humility that came from him. You would not have known the greatest in him, the things he had done so unselfishly for so many. He never commanded our “Thank You”s for his sacrifice, our accolades for his service. It is clear that he will rest in heaven, his final place a testament to a life well lived. Rest In Peace Representative Lewis. Our lives were made better by your presence and emptier by your absence but forever touched by your legacy.

Heartfelt sympathy and God's vast grace and comfort to John Lewis' family and friends as the world they grieve the loss of this great man. The world mourns with you and I pray the light of God will continue to shine on racial injustice across America and that the brave and accomplished life of John Lewis will be a beacon for the rest of us. "Let know man write my epitagh"
John Lewis wrote his own by illustrating what servant leadership looks like in the face of adversity. He was a voice for truth, courageous man not afraid to stand for righteousness.
Will will always look for you as a rainbow in our dark skies!
Rest well thy good and faithful servant,

He was our Congressman and friend for many years and we appreciate the many sacrifices he made over his lifetime to make this world a better place. We appreciate his humility but he is deserving of all the tributes that have come and will come his way. He was one of a kind.

I am a retired public school elementary teacher librarian. Nothing gave me more joy than sharing books about the Boy from Troy. Every year, on or about March 7, I read the book, John Lewis In The Lead. I don’t believe in regrets- they are a waste of energy. But I do regret not approaching Congressman Lewis after he delivered a eulogy at a memorial service I attended for a family member, just to tell him he was my hero. Rest in paradise, dear sir. #goodtrouble #belovedcommunity
