Mr. Lewis, please watch over us from your Honorary perch in heaven. Who will I call now to help with all of the wrongdoings in GA. Your life was a gift and a blessing. You led the march for us at the Women’s March in 2017 ATL. You will always represent #belovedcommunity and a 1- week event to celebrate your life is very fitting. You are a great hero to me and now there’s a large hole in GA’s justice, not to mention America. I will miss you terribly. Love and tears, Ramona

To the Family of John R. Lewis, I express my deepest condolences. While we say goodbye to the life of an extraordinary man, we still have his life’s work as a symbol of light to guide our paths. Appreciated is Rep. Lewis's determination to fight for what is right, speak up against what is wrong and build “The Beloved Community”. As a young news reporter in the early 90s, I had the honor of meeting the Congressman and covering his visit to Wesleyan College in Macon, GA. I remember listening to this humble man, with a strong, steady voice detail his “good trouble” on the road to social change. We all can learn from his love of God, remarkable patience and amazing courage. Thank John Robert Lewis. Blessings of Peace Lewis Family.

John Lewis, along with other civil rights activists paved a road that made life a lot easier for those of us of color. My most memorable film is when the white deputy hit him in the face and knocked him down. He stood up bleeding and looked him in the eyes and face, not once cursing or striking out! He did what Paul called all Christians to do. When you have done all you can do stand, just stand. John Lewis stood with righteousness, salvation, truth and most of all love for his fellow man. He said in one of speeches there is just one race, the human race. I vote in every election and always sit at the front of the bus because of him and so many others. May he rest in peace. He fought a good fight and finished his race!

It is often hard to consider a man's place in history when he lives among us. In his passing, however, it must be clear to us all that John Lewis was an American icon and hero. Mr. Lewis' legacy should be held up amongst all Americans as a beacon of how we should all live our daily lives - observing prejudice and seeking to change it to make this world better. I was honored to be able to take my children into his office in D.C. and could feel the power of the man, even when he was not there. I will strive to do my part to get into "good trouble" and make the changes that I can in this world. Thank you John for your light, your leadership and your legacy. You have shown us the way, it's up to us to follow the path.

I send my deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Rep. John Lewis. The nation grieves with you. From afar, it feels like Rep. Lewis was that rare combination of bravery, honor, humor, compassion. You do not see those qualities in leaders very often. Our country was blessed to have John Lewis as a citizen, parent, activist for justice and human rights. He walked the walk. He remained positive in his outlook on life, despite what he suffered. I loved those clips of him dancing - he had moves! John Lewis set a good example for the world. We will never forget him.
