Congressman Lewis was a God fearing good man. I remember seeing the first walk across the Edmund Pettis Bridge at the age of 12 on TV and since that day I knew I had to stand up and fight for what is right, just and fair for all people because were are created in the eyes of God as equals. He will never be forgotten and his Legacy shall live on for generations to come. In the meantime I will continue the good fight till I am taken home and can talk with John Lewis face to face. The Lord bless you and keep always.

To a Very Special Family, I sit here almost in tears over the departure of Mr. Lewis. He is one of my heroes. He was an amazing leader, congressional representative, and most of all an unforgettable risk-taker who put the rights of all above suffering, torture, discrimination and whatever else stood in his path. His march in Tulsa, his passion, his great love of family, friends, the people of the United States and of the world shouted his ideals, the same ideals that America has always stood for. I will truly miss his. Now, more than ever, all of us will miss him. We who prize his great legacy will fight for justice for all peoples. We will think of him and pray that his spirit will stay with us. God bless John Lewis and the family and friends he has left, but only for a while.

I was saddened to hear of Mr. Lewis's passing. I had the pleasure of speaking to him and his lovely bride several years ago. Mr. Lewis's contributions to our society can not be adequately honored as the profound changes for everyone - regardless of race - are many. My deepest condolences to the Lewis family - my deeper sorrow is that he will no longer be a voice reminding us of what we can and should do. He spoke from a position of knowledge and love. He is irreplaceable.

I was lucky enough to be present when John Lewis gave the Commencement address at Long Island University in Brooklyn NY. He recounted the story of Walking with the wind and it was the most moving live event I ever witnessed. Thanks for having such an inspiring life Congressman Lewis! You give me hope for the human race!

My mother and I were in Washington, DC for " Hydrocephalus day on Capital Hill" and Congressman Lewis was on the Hydrocephalus Caucus. My mom and I were so in Aw by his presence and we were so amazed at how humble and gentle he was. We asked him if we could have have a picture taken him and he said " he would be glad to" and so we did! I have that picture framed and on my wall! He will be missed!

In this troubled time when many question the content of our American identity and purpose, John Lewis showed us how to live and work with grace, energy, Truth and resolve. His life traces our evolution towards a more selfless belief in the power of people to create a democratic republic. He was and shall remain a hero in my heart and for anyone who believes that America can still live up to its promise.

Mr. Lewis, thank you for all your years of service to this country. I was a little girl when you walk across that bridge, and that influences me greatly. I know you are with Dr. King in heaven, still marching in peace in heaven, and still watching over us. Sleep in Peace, my Brother.

May God's blessings richly inspired peace within your heart knowing that our beloved brother in Christ had fought a great fight and made GOOD TROUBLE on our behalf. We have lost a great soul and may be find the comfort knowing that without him and his fight our people would not be able to vote and have a say in the process of this Country. The struggle still continues but he made the foundation for us to continue. Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory. Amen.
