THANKS FOR THE MAN OF GOD YOU WERE. FOR ALL THE HARD WORK, LABOR, WILL, FIGHT AND LOVE FOR YOUR PEOPLE OVER THE YEARS. YOU ENDURED THE PAIN AND SUFFERING TO GIVE US RIGHTS, OPPORTUNITIES, FREEDOM, AND A CHANCE TO BE WHO WE ARE TODAY. WITHOUT YOUR VISION IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE. GOD USED YOU AS AN ANGEL FOR CHANGE.
AS AN IMMIGRANT I SAY THANKS ON BEHALF OF MY FAMILY FOR GIVING ME THIS HOPE TO LIVE THE AMERICAN DREAM AS A BLACK SISTER.
MAY YOUR SOUL REST IN PEACE AND RISE IN GLORY. MAY WE ALL REMEMBER TO GIVE BACK AND HELP OUR FELLOW BROTHERS AND SISTERS WHO ARE NOT SO FORTUNATE AND CONTINUE TO BUILD ON THE LEGACY YOU LEFT US.

He was an amazing figure whose courage and compassion is an inspiration and a rallying point for all of us to aspire to. Change does not come without sacrifice in this country. John Lewis stands as an example of what a leader should be. This is something we need in this country as we are woefully without it in this current administration. Much love and warm to all his family and friends as theirs is a much closer and deeper sadness. For the rest of us, he was a legendary figure, but for you he was a father, brother, and friend.

Where to start... Basically, I miss him. Starting back in the 50s, my (now-deceased) husband and I were deeply involved in civil rights and the quest for justice. Although we never met John Lewis personally, we knew people around him, and greatly admired the courage he displayed in acting on his convictions. He went on to overcome many obstacles and achieve great accomplishments, and became a hero to all of us who cared about people being treated equitably and without the stain of racism. Right up to the day he passed, I was receiving at least one email a day from him and I do miss them --and him. Rest in Power, John Lewis.

We need people like John Lewis to protect the rights of all American Citizens over the age of 18 and not guilty of any violent crimes to vote in every single election to prevent the United States from becoming a fascist dictatorship.
